Resumo: This research aimed to evaluate the impact of the active methods of Peer Instruction (PI) + Just in Time Teaching (JiTT) on the beliefs of high school students of Youth and Adult Education (YAE) of a federal school in Rio de Janeiro, about chemistry classes. For this, the students had classes on chemical bonds with the PI + JiTT methods and regular lectures on the other topics of the discipline, aiming to compare them. We collected data through a semantic differential scale and analyzed them statistically by hypothesis test, in addition to conducting interviews with students. The results suggest that the PI method positively impacted students' beliefs, in addition to revealing that the JiTT method did not have the expected adherence.
