Resumo: The article aims to analyze the professional practice of educators working in Centro de Referência de Assistência Social (CRAS) in the municipality of Irati, State of Paraná, Brazil, emphasizing their training process for professional development within the scope of Social Pedagogy. Therefore, it indicates some notes about the importance of Social Pedagogy in Brazil in the context of CRAS. Emphasizes the training of teaching professionals, valuing the importance of adequate training for the work offered at CRAS. In the end, it questions the reality of the pedagogue’s work in the municipality, indicating its economic and social panorama in order to understand the importance of his/her work in this context. The research started from a perspective by Freire of document analysis and online questionnaire. The results obtained show that the training of the pedagogue is adequate for working with CRAS. However, it emphasizes the importance of this training to include, in its curriculum, disciplines that provide the opportunity for discussion in ​​Social Education area. It reflects that currently, the initial training goes through a setback, due to Resolution nº 2 of the National Council of Education which establishes the National Curricular Guidelines for the Initial Training of Teachers for Basic Education.

Para tanto, indica alguns apontamentos acerca da emergência da Pedagogia Social no Brasil e o surgimento do CRAS. Enfatiza a formação dos profissionais pedagogos, valorizando a importância da formação adequada para os trabalhos ofertados no CRAS. Ao final, problematiza a realidade do trabalho do pedagogo no município, indicando seu panorama econômico e social para compreender a importância do seu trabalho nesse contexto. A pesquisa partiu de uma perspectiva freiriana de análise documental e questionário online. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam que a formação do pedagogo é adequada para o trabalho junto ao CRAS. Contudo, ressalta a importância dessa formação contemplar em suas grades curriculares, disciplinas que oportunizem a discussão na área da Pedagogia Social.
