Benjamin's philosophy of childhood and possible dialogues with popular education

Resumo: | With the aim of identifying similarities between the philosophy of Walter Benjamin, in his discussion of childhood, and some aspects of popular education, this article proposes, based on a theoretical analysis of benjaminian and freirean texts, the idea that it is possible to trigger the thought of the aforementioned Berlin philosopher as a basis for deepening reflections on popular educational practices. With this intention, we will not seek to make a eurocentric debate on popular education, but to understand how Benjamin, an intellectual engaged with the struggles of the working classes of the early twentieth century, elaborated pedagogical and political concepts that may be important for committed educators to forms of education aimed at overcoming oppression. |

Con esta intención, no buscaremos hacer un debate eurocéntrico sobre la educación popular, sino comprender cómo Benjamin, un intelectual comprometido con las luchas de las clases trabajadoras de principios del siglo XX, elaboró conceptos pedagógicos y políticos que pueden ser importantes para los educadores y educadoras comprometidos y comprometidas con formas de educación encaminadas a la superación de la opresión.Com o objetivo de identificar aproximações entre a filosofia de Walter Benjamin, na discussão dele sobre a infância e alguns aspectos da educação popular, este artigo propõe, a partir de uma análise teórica de textos benjaminianos e freirianos, a ideia de que é possível acionar o pensamento do referido filósofo berlinense como base para aprofundar reflexões em torno das práticas educativas populares.
