Undergraduate Course in Rural Educations: social representations on the choice of profession

Resumo: This work discusses the social representations that underlie the motivations of students to enter the Licentiate Course in Rural Education (LECampo) at the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The instruments used to obtain the data were: a questionnaire, interview, and focus group. To interpret the information, we used the Content Analysis, proposed by Bardin. As a result, some categories were listed, among them the “Choice of the Profession”, discussed in this article. It was found that the motivation of students to attend LECampo is the result of the influence of the environment in which they live and the social representation that this course offers a great opportunity for inclusion in higher education, resulting in a change in life for young people and adults in the field. It was still clear that this entry contributed to reversing a historical framework of inequality in peasants’ access to education.

Los instrumentos utilizados para la construcción de datos fueron: sesiones, entrevistas y grupo focal. Para la interpretación de la información se utilizó el Análisis de Contenido propuesto por Bardin. Como resultado, se enumeraron algunas categorías, y entre ellas la “Elección de Profesión” que se analiza en este artículo. Se encontró que la motivación de los estudiantes para cursar LECampo es resultado de la influencia del entorno en el que viven y la representación social que ofrece este curso una gran oportunidad de inserción en la educación superior, generada en un cambio de vida para los jóvenes. y adultos del campo. También quedó claro que este boleto contribuye a revertir una situación histórica de desigualdad en el acceso de los campesinos a la educación.Neste trabalho discute-se as representações sociais que alicerçam as motivações dos estudantes para o ingresso no curso de Licenciatura em Educação do Campo (LECampo) da Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro. Os instrumentos utilizados para a construção dos dados foram: questionário, entrevista e grupo focal. Para a interpretação das informações, utilizamos a Análise de Conteúdo, proposta por Bardin. Como resultado, elencou-se algumas categorias, entre elas, a “Escolha da Profissão”, discutida neste artigo. Verificou-se que a motivação dos alunos para cursar a LECampo é fruto da influência do meio em que vivem e da representação social de que esse curso oferece uma grande oportunidade de inserção no Ensino Superior, resultando em mudança de vida para os jovens e adultos do campo.
