Soccer and the World Cup: a pedagogical experience based in cultural physical education

Resumo: The text presents a pedagogical experience developed in the year 2018, with the sixth grade of elementary school, in a public school of the municipal network of São Paulo, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The work is based in the so-called “Cultural Curriculum of Physical Education” and in the official documents of the municipality. From this perspective, they seek to thematize soccer, study its gestures, rules, techniques, techniques and other elements from social, political and cultural contexts. Together with the activities on the court, critically analyzing the characteristics of the Soccer World Cup event, the FIFA (International Football Federation) and CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), set up a news archive of the event, making a collective album of cards, playing sports bets and watching documentaries. We evaluated that after this experience with the Cultural Curriculum of Physical Education, the students comprehended more about the economic aspects, the national identities and issues regarding gender, homophobia and racism involved in soccer.

O trabalho pautou-se no chamado “Currículo Cultural de Educação Física” e nos documentos oficiais do município. Nessa perspectiva, buscamos tematizar o futebol, estudando seus gestos, regras, táticas, técnicas e outros elementos a partir de contextos sociais, políticos e culturais. Junto com as atividades na quadra, analisamos criticamente as características do evento da Copa do Mundo de Futebol de campo masculino, bem como das instituições FIFA (Federação Internacional de Futebol Associação) e CBF (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol), elaboramos uma hemeroteca com as reportagens sobre o evento, confeccionamos um álbum de figurinhas coletivo, brincamos de bolão e assistimos a documentários.
