Resumo: From a perspective of contemporary theory, this article addresses the relationship between the rest and the archive and, abbreviating in Michel Foucault's classic text, The Archeology of Knowledge, explores archeology as resistance. From the aforementioned Foucault and authors such as Arlette Farge and Giorgio Agamben, these pages try to produce an approach to the question of the archive from the idea of rest in order to think of the work of the historian or the artist as an act of creation. This implies problematizing the traditional conception of the archive as a repository of documents that propose a sort of access to the past in order to consider it as a terrain of theoretical and disciplinary disputes about the link with the events of which the archive attempts to account.
