Resumo: | This article proposes the hypothesis that the conquest is not an event indicating the genesis of modernity, but a structure that sustains it trans-historically. The author suggests that the matrix that hallmarks this structure is race. The text conjures up a possible dialogue with the thought of scholars such as Michel Foucault (war of races), Aníbal Quijano (racism as a product of coloniality) and Rita Segato (race as a communicative sign), and ties them with Latin American empirical and historical researches. Finallty, it tries to demonstrate that there is a pervasive re-edition of Conquest as a way to perpetuate racism and racialization. |
