THE LANDSCAPES OF THE COASTAL ZONE OF MARANHÃO: THE CASE OF THE MUNICIPALITIES OF ROSÁRIO, AXIXÁ AND ICATU

Resumo: Landscape cartography is a methodology/activity of a physical-geographical nature that makes it possible to define units, attributing to them functions, limitations and potentialities linked to geoecological indicators. Given this premise, this article sought to identify, classify and map the landscape units of the coastal zone of Maranhão, especially the municipalities of Rosário, Axixá and Icatu, in the north of the state. The methodological guide covered geoprocessing precepts, in view of the data modeling linked to algebra map which allowed the crossing of geology, relief, slope and vegetation data, with their subsequent validation. The results showed ten units ranging from mangroves with herbaceous and arboreal riverine vegetation on reduced slopes superimposed on alluvium and colluvium, to units with urban influence. The typologies and dynamics of each unit made it possible to punctuate the cultivation, extractivism and livestock farming located in forest and countryside (natural) areas. As a result, those landscapes that are characterized by strong changes in spatial and functional structure may not fulfill their functions and services properly. It is concluded that this research will contribute to understand the coastal zone as a heterogeneous area from the geoecological point of view and to enable a future physical-territorial ordering of this complex and relevant region for Maranhão.

Este artículo buscó identificar, clasificar y mapear las unidades de paisaje de la zona costera de Maranhão, especialmente los municipios de Rosário, Axixá y Icatu, en el norte del estado. El guión metodológico abarcaba preceptos de geoprocesamiento, antes de la modelización del datos ligada al álgebra de los mapas, lo que permitió el cruce de datos de geología, relieve, pendiente y vegetación, con su posterior validación. Los resultados mostraron diez unidades que varían desde manglares con vegetación fluvial herbácea y arbórea en pendientes reducidas superpuestas a aluviones y coluviones, hasta unidades con influencia urbana. Las tipologías y dinámicas propias de cada unidad han permitido identificar el cultivo, el extractivismo y la ganadería situados en zonas forestales y rurales (naturales). Así, aquellos paisajes que se caracterizan por fuertes cambios en la estructura espacial y funcional pueden no cumplir adecuadamente sus funciones y servicios. Se concluye que esta investigación contribuirá a entender la zona costera como un área heterogénea desde el punto de vista geoecológico y permitirá una futura planificación físico-territorial de esta compleja y relevante región para Maranhão.La cartographie du paysage est une méthodologie/activité de caractère physico-géographique qui permet de définir des unités, leur attribuer fonctions, limites et potentialités liées à indicateurs géoécologiques. Compte tenu de cette prémisse, cet article a cherché à identifier, classer et cartographier les unités de paysage de la zone côtière du Maranhão, en particulier les municipalités de Rosário, Axixá et Icatu. Le scénario méthodologique a abordé les préceptes du géotraitement, avant la modélisation des données liée à l'algèbre des cartes, qui a permis le croisement des données de géologie, relief, pente et végétation, avec sa validation. Les résultats ont montré dix unités allant des mangroves avec une végétation riveraine sur des pentes réduites recouvertes d'alluvions et de colluvions, à des unités d'influence urbaine. Les typologies et dynamiques des unités ont permis de noter la culture, l'extractivisme et l'élevage dans les zones forestières et rurales. Les paysages qui sont caractérisés par de fortes modifications de la structure spatiale et fonctionnelle peuvent ne pas remplir leurs fonctions et services de manière adéquate. Il est conclu que cette recherche contribuera à comprendre la zone côtière comme une zone géo-écologique hétérogène et permettra une planification physique-territoriale de cette région complexe et pertinente pour le Maranhão.A cartografia de paisagem é uma metodologia/atividade de caráter físico-geográfica que possibilita definir unidades, atribuindo a elas funções, limitações, potencialidades atreladas a indicadores geoecológicos. Diante dessa premissa, esse artigo buscou identificar, classificar e mapear as unidades de paisagem da zona costeira maranhense, em especial os municípios de Rosário, Axixá e Icatu, no norte do estado. O roteiro metodológico abrangeu preceitos do geoprocessamento, diante da modelagem de dados ligada à álgebra de mapas, o que permitiu o cruzamento de dados de geologia, relevo, declividade e vegetação, com sua subsecutiva validação. Os resultados mostraram dez unidades que variam desde mangues com vegetação fluviomarinha herbácea e arbórea em declives reduzidos sobrepostos em aluviões e coluviões, até unidades com influência urbana. As tipologias e dinâmicas próprias de cada unidade permitiram pontuar o cultivo, o extrativismo e a pecuária localizados em áreas florestais e campestres (naturais). Com isso, aquelas paisagens que se caracterizam por fortes mudanças na estrutura espacial e funcional podem não cumprir com suas funções e serviços de forma adequada.
