The Brazilian policies of agrarian reform and rural technical assistance are essential instruments for the development of family agriculture in settlements. This article aims to analyze the implementation of the technical assistance and rural extension in the settlements of agrarian reform in the state of Minas Gerais, in particular, the actions of the Regional Superintendence of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform in Minas Gerais (INCRA-MG), presenting data on the execution of public budget, contracts, targets and indicators in the period of 2008-2018. The study is based on documentary research and from the Diagnosis for Environmental Regularization of Land Reform Settlements (RADIS), under the responsibility of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT). It is possible to note the reduction of public investments in technical assistance for rural families in settlements in the state of Minas Gerais and lack of strategic government plans and adequate models for the services. Also, there is a lack of tools and data that prove and ensure the effectiveness and social results of this public policy in family agriculture in settlements of the state.
