REMOTE SENSING TECHNIQUES APPLIED TO DROUGHT ANALYSIS IN HYDROGRAPHIC BASINS: CASE STUDY IN THE SUB-BASIN OF SERRA AZUL STREAM – MG

Resumo: Recurrent anthropic pressures in the environment have caused several changes in natural cycles, including the hydrological cycle. The main consequence of changes in the hydrological cycle is associated with the worsening of drought and the presence of water scarcity events. In this aspect, the objective of this work is to verify the effectiveness of MODIS sensor data for meteorological and hydrological drought analysis in the Serra Azul stream sub-basin (MG) through application of the vegetation condition index (VCI). For this, the calculation of the VCI and statistical analyzes were carried out with meteorological, hydrological data and climatological reports between the years 2013-2018 in order to identify the extent of drought in the sub-basin. The results made it possible to identify that the presence of external events and regional aspects contributed to the worsening of the drought. In addition, it was found that soil moisture may have influenced water storage in the study region. Through the results obtained, it was verified that the ICV has a significant capacity to identify drought events in the study region, confirmed by statistics in the regressions and correlations of the variables.

A principal consequência das mudanças do ciclo hidrológico está associada ao agravamento da seca e à presença de eventos de escassez hídrica. Nesse aspecto, o objetivo desse trabalho é verificar a eficácia de dados do sensor MODIS para análise de seca meteorológica e hidrológica na região da sub-bacia do ribeirão Serra Azul (MG) por meio de aplicação do índice de condição de vegetação (ICV). Para isso, realizou-se o cálculo do ICV e análises estatísticas com dados meteorológicos, hidrológicos e relatórios climatológicos entre os anos de 2013-2018 com o intuito de identificar a abrangência de seca na sub-bacia. Os resultados permitiram identificar que a presença de eventos externos e aspectos regionais contribuiu para o agravamento da seca. Além disso, verificou-se que a umidade do solo pode ter influenciado o armazenamento de água na região de estudo.
