The text proposes a discussion about the elements that shape the process of socio-spatial segregation in the city of Londrina, in the north of the State of Paraná, Brazil. This was achieved based on the reality experienced by individuals who inhabit Residencial Vista Bela, a large housing complex built under funding from the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, in an investigation made through qualitative research methodologies. Among the complex series of issues reported by these subjects in interviews, the theme of violence perceived and experienced in their daily lives in the neighborhood stood out, as well as the representations constructed by Londrina residents who associate the residents of the periphery with crime. Socio-spatial segregation is, therefore, observed in this study as a central element to think about the complex problem of violence in its objective and subjective dimensions.
