CONSERVATION STATUS OF THE LANDSCAPE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF JUARA, BRAZIL

The vegetation cover is a very important component for the environmental balance, since it ensures the protection of the soil against erosion, as well as the well-being and life quality of the population. In this context, the aim is to analyze the dynamics of vegetation cover and land use by assessing the conservation status of the landscape in the municipality of Juara/MT, in order to generate data and information that contribute to environmental conservation. For the development of this study, bibliographic research, and the generation of thematic maps of vegetation cover and land use for the period between 1990 and 2020 were carried out using geo-technological tools. The results show that agriculture and livestock have increased in area over the years analyzed. In relation to the conservation of the landscape in the municipality of Juara/MT, the state was found to be little degraded and regular. The landscape in the projected period (2030-2060) will be regular, if society maintains the same pattern, indicating the need for mitigation measures regarding land uses. Therefore, the spatiotemporal changes of the vegetation covers in the investigated municipality are a result of the expansion of the Anthropic Uses category, mainly Livestock.
