Resumo: | With the intention of understanding the dynamics of cross-border health related migration movements, we sought to investigate the health-related movements that involved Brazilian cities located inside the border strip and neighboring countries. Therefore, we used data from the REGIC (Região de Influência das Cidades – Cities’s Area of Influence) research (2018), that described pairs of cities (one Brazilian and one international) in which there were health-related movements. The data was treated and organized with the help of geotechnologies (QGIS and Google Earth Pro) to create indicators and a summary map. We observed that the Southern region is the Brazilian region with the most international health-related migration connections (39), while the mid-western and northern regions had approximately half that amount (19 each). The neighboring countries that are most involved with this phenomenon are Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, which where the other three founding members of the MERCOSUL, as well as Bolivia. It was also found that the currently available public data on cross-border health-related movements do not allow for a detailed analysis of the cross-border movements for accessing health services, which impacts the making of more specific public policy and planning by the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS) for this theme. |
