Resumo: | This study aims to develop a social and environmental vulnerability index from confirmed "dengue" cases, with the intention of spatializing and analyzing the number of cases of infected people about the degree of social and environmental vulnerability in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the period of 2007 to 2017. Thus, two neighborhoods in the South Zone, Copacabana and Jardim Botânico, and two neighborhoods in the West Zone, Guaratiba and Santa Cruz, were selected. Therefore, variables from the 2010 Census (IBGE) were selected and analyzed through the elaboration of the Social and Environmental Vulnerability Index and the preparation of thematic maps by census sector using the Geographical Information System. Then, the data were analyzed using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) statistical method with the intention of identifying which variables took on greater weight in the Social and Environmental Vulnerability Index. According to the results obtained by the ACP, the infrastructure and the difference in income were the main consequences related to the degree of vulnerability in light of confirmed cases of dengue. In general, the neighborhoods of Guaratiba and Santa Cruz, located in the West Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, had higher numbers of cases of infected people and presented a higher degree of social and Environmental Vulnerability when compared to the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Jardim Botânico, located in the South Zone. |
