Resumo: This paper examines the problem of so-called “learning disabilities”, that entered our classrooms and, since its inception, as well as the medicalization became part of our lives. It also examines what the labels can cause in the lives of people with some kind of disability and discuss how the teacher can work the potential of the students aiming their integral development, general purpose of the article. For this, was utilized Vygotsky as main reference, among others.

For this, was utilized Vygotsky as main reference, among others.O presente trabalho analisa o problema das chamadas “dificuldades de aprendizagem”, que adentraram as nossas salas de aula e, desde sua origem, assim como a medicalização, passaram a fazer parte das nossas vidas. Analisa também o que os rótulos causam na vida de pessoas com algum tipo de deficiência, e discute como o professor pode trabalhar as potencialidades dos educandos visando ao seu desenvolvimento integral, que é o objetivo do artigo. Para isso, utiliza Vigotski como principal referencial, entre outros.
