Conceptual maps as a tool for monitoring the construction of the Riemann Integral concept

Resumo: This article presents the resultsof an exploratory research carried out with academics from several Engineering and Chemistry courses, in order to evaluate the contribution of Conceptual Maps to the construction of the Riemann Integral Concept. Tasks were developed based on the assumptions of Theories of Didactic Situations and of Semiotic Representation. The activities included concepts considered of extreme importance for the comprehension of the definite integral concept (Riemann integrals), which are: convergence (and notation) of sequences and series, summative notation and area calculation of a region under a curve, besides own concept of integral Riemann. It was observed that the maps have a strong potential to indicate failures in the construction of the concepts by the academics, as well as it is a tool that can favor the teacher self-evaluation.

Se propusieron tareas desarrolladas en base a los supuestos de las Teorías de Situaciones Didácticas y el Registro de Representación Semiótica. Las actividades contemplaron conceptos considerados extremadamente importantes para comprender el concepto de integral definida (integral de Riemann), que son: convergencia (y notación) de secuencias y series, notación de suma y cálculo de área de una región bajo una curva, además de El propio concepto de integral de Riemann. Se observó que los mapas tienen un gran potencial para indicar fallas en la construcción de conceptos por parte de los académicos, además de ser una herramienta que puede favorecer la autoevaluación de los docentes.Esse artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa exploratória, realizada com acadêmicos de vários cursos de Engenharia e de licenciatura em Química, com a finalidade de avaliar a contribuição dos Mapas Conceituais para o acompanhamento da construção do Conceito de Integral de Riemann. Foram propostas tarefas desenvolvidas com base nos pressupostos das Teorias das Situações Didáticas e de Registro de Representação Semiótica. As atividades contemplavam conceitos considerados de extrema importância para a compreensão do conceito de integral definida (integral de Riemann), que são: convergência (e notação) de sequências e séries, notação somatória e cálculo de área de uma região sob uma curva, além do próprio conceito de integral de Riemann.
