Resumo: This paper evaluated the commercial and political relations between Brazil and China throughout the 21st century, with an emphasis on 2020, period of occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a methodological procedure, the research used primary and secondary sources, such as economic indicators and bibliographic and documentary production. An accentuation of the pattern of specialization of the Brazilian trade in primary goods during the pandemic was verified, which, among other factors, reiterates the state of dependence of Brazil on China. Due to the weight of the deep and asymmetrical economic interaction, relations with the eastern nation are strategic for Brazil – even amid recent political turmoil, Brazilian agents who benefit from the interaction have tried to remedy and promote diplomatic relations between the two countries.
