Resumo: The study in question has as its object the representations of the Devil present in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, and in Sandro Botticelli's drawings on the Dante's poem. In order to do so, is it intended to analyze the way in which painting and poetry are related, mainly through the rhetorical figure of the écfrase and the concept of ut pictura poesis. It was tried to evaluate Dante Alighieri and Sandro Botticelli from the artistic criteria of his time, always taking into account the differences between the mimetic art and the romantic art, a fundamental question to understand the discussions proposed throughout the monograph. In this way, it seems fundamental to consider how the topical one of the ut pictura poesis manifested itself in the poetry and the painting by means of the écfrase, which allows to approach possible relations between the offices of the poet and the painter.
