Resumo: The documentary "Garrincha, Alegria do Povo" presents Manuel Francisco dos Santos, known as Garrincha, after the conquest of the world championship in 1962. Garrincha, right-wing of the Brazilian National Team and Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, is the protagonist of a documentary in feature film directed by Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, a prominent name in Cinema Novo, a Brazilian cinematographic movement of the 1960s. The film traces a non-traditional narrative, with images of the 1950, 1958 and 1962 World Cups , training and games of Botafogo and Brazilian National Team, the daily life of Garrincha, his city and family, besides the 60’s Rio de Janeiro and the pupular community in love with football. From the film, we performed an analysis with the purpose of analyzing the narrative construction of the documentary from the actants of the Actantial AJ Greimas Model. As a result, we pointed to Garrincha as Subject, Joy as Desire, 1962 World Cup victory as Object, doubt about 1958 as Sender, Brazilian people as Receiver, football as Helper and the 1950 World Cup and Pelé's injury both as Opponents.

Garrincha, ponta-direita da Seleção Brasileira e do Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, é o protagonista do documentário em longa-metragem dirigido por Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, nome proeminente do Cinema Novo, movimento cinematográfico brasileiro dos anos de 1960. O longa traça uma narrativa não tradicional, com imagens das Copas do Mundo de 1950, 1958 e 1962, treinos e jogos do Botafogo e da Seleção, do cotidiano de Garrincha, sua cidade e família, além do Rio de Janeiro da época e o povo, apaixonado pelo futebol. A partir do longa, realizamos uma análise com o objetivo de analisar a construção narrativa do documentário a partir dos actantes do Modelo Atuacional de AJ Greimas.
