As a consequence of the increasingly rapid process of development of technologies, associated with the level of growth of consumption in society, the production of solid urban waste increased significantly. Given the great importance of sustainability, ergonomics presents itself as a potential for improvement, by carrying out the analysis of demand and the task, in process of recovering metals from selective collection. Highlighting the importance of collectors, the objective of this article is to analyze from the perspective of the ergonomics of the activity, if there is mental overload. The post studied is for the separation of metallic components, due to its financial importance for the cooperative. It was possible, through questionnaires and monitoring of activities, to apply the ESCAM, ERGOS and NASA TLX methods, to measure mental load. The results show numbers considered acceptable according to the standards defined by the methods used, but the task requires monitoring, in order not to compromise work safety and quality of life.
