A relevância do Brasil como destino migratório internacional: um olhar para os principais fluxos contemporâneos (2010-2022).

International migration to Brazil had a significant increase from 2010 onwards. This fact motivated several researchers to study this process, with scientific research, to unveil the implications of such an event. Based on data selected from the National Migration Registry System (SISMIGRA) portal, regional migration of Latin American origin and countries in the global south are the main flows. Therefore, this objective research investigates international migration flows to Brazil, focusing on countries of origin with the highest rates of permanent registration. We also sought to identify the main current migratory flows as causes that strengthen migratory flows between countries in the global south, so that Brazil's role in this reality can be understood. To carry out the research, a bibliographical review was carried out to understand migration as a concept, the history of international migration to Brazil and the repulsion and attraction factors that fostered migratory flows. To translate the event into numbers, the research was based on the main national and international websites that provide quantitative data on international migration. From the research it was proven that Brazil has played a relevant and central role in welcoming flows of Latin American origin and countries from the global south, as around 1,083 million migrants and refugees were registered in the period of registered from 2010 to 2022 (DATAMIGRA, 2022).
