General anesthesia leads to the loss of some physiological responses, requiring in some cases the aid of mechanical ventilation. In surgical procedures that open the chest cavity, such as pulmonary lobectomy surgery, mechanical ventilation becomes essential for the maintenance of life. Neoplasms are increasingly common in domestic pets, either because of their longer life expectancy, that is, because of the change in habits and care of the animals. Boxer dogs are predisposed to a series of pathologies and neoplasms, with advancing age, this predisposition increases, with mast cell tumors and lymphoma being the most common tumors found in these dogs. However, they can be subject to other neoplasms, such as papillary bronchoalveolar carcinoma. Boxers are part of the brachycephalic category, which is distinguished by having several cranial deformities, causing difficulties from daily breathing to orotracheal intubation. This study aimed to report an anesthetic procedure in a 9-year-old boxer dog, diagnosed with papillary bronchoalveolar carcinoma in the ventral region of the middle pulmonary lobe, who underwent a lobectomy for removal of the neoplasm.
