Resumo: What does multichannel stand for? The meaning used in this paper is related only to specific files able to handle with storage and streaming of multiple sound sources that can be individually used whenever they are subsequently requested. Stem is the name given to the collection of processes involving audio mixdown in order to group sound sources and have them available for further usage. I sought to investigate how one could beneficiate from useful resources related to the stems approach and its new possible musical achievements, appointing stems as the empiric procedure core of the work. Although the objective is to investigate creative methods and procedures using stems in the electronic music composition processes, musical works are not presented here. The purpose of this paper is to understand the interaction and combination between different sound materials and their respective usage related to new musical creations. It is intended to demonstrate that the variables achieved in the course of the experiments that were carried out are part of an aesthetic conception, and can be used as the foundation for an artistic identity. In summary, the question appointed is: how the use of various sound materials, organized in different types of sound sources, by different spectromorphological types could favor and assist one in the development, constitution and organization of a new musical work? As a result of these phenomena, what are the impacts on the compositional process in electronic music? In view of the established questions, methods were developed in this paper in order to demonstrate a system of sound interactions between different sources that generate sound and attest the musical effects achieved. Three experiments were carried out that used stems as a starting point and original gesture, within a chain of parameters. The waveforms of a stem, when converted into several electrical signals, were programmed to activate certain controls in sources of sound generation, either digital or analog. The results were recorded in video and audio so that they could better clarify those procedures. It was concluded that the performance of the experiments was limited to the amount of equipment used and their respective configurations.
