For many scholars, US military power is responsible for sustaining the country as the main power still today. This position is based on the inductive character of the economy that the military sphere provides and on the impact that it has on the formulation of US foreign policy, especially on issues of defense and national security. Grounded in the scenario established in the Cold War, military commitment to scientific research has become essential. The rise of the so-called Academic-Military-Industrial Complex in the twentieth century demonstrates this strong partnership between the state and technological development in the United States. In this context, agencies such as the Department of Defense emerge as prominent with regard to passing on federal investments in the area. Cooperation between the triad - academia, industry and the military sector - derives from this structure, provides strong stimulus to several sectors of the national economy, leading to technological leaps responsible for boosting the market. In this matter, technology and innovation become determining factors in the process of development of the countries and in the North American case, elements responsible for the maintenance of hegemony. Such concern becomes evident in the adequacy of the Complex to the speeches given by the establishment, formulated from initiatives of the global strategy of the United States.
