Resumo: | Introduction: The delivery is the most expected moment of a gestation, represents a milestone in the life of the woman. During labor the woman goes through an experience full of psychic, biological and social changes is a moment in which it involves feelings and doubts. A reality that unfortunately is experienced by many women during labor is obstetric violence. It is the duty of managers, services and health professionals to prepare public policies seeking to guarantee the right to a quality, humanized care always seeking the promotion of the health of the woman and her child. Objective: Carry out a survey of the literature on the occurrence of obstetric violence in the experience of labor and delivery. Methodology: This study is an integrative review of the literature. We searched the VHL, LILACS, BDENF and MEDLINE databases. We found 35 articles, of which 13 articles related to the theme were selected. Results: After reading and analyzing the articles, the lexical categorization technique was used, where 4 categories were defined: obstetric violence in the professionals' view; obstetric violence in patients' eyes; the main types of obstetric violence committed and the lack of obstetric violence by the patients. The main types of obstetric violence found were verbal, sexual and psychological violence, besides physical violence such as episiotomy, unnecessary touch exams, use of the supine position, among others. Conclusion: After analyzing the articles covered in this review, we can affirm that obstetric violence is unfortunately a reality experienced by women in several institutions. We consider it important to address all doubts and explain, even if the pregnant woman does not ask what obstetric violence is. We also consider it important to explain to the companion who will be with the parturient during childbirth so that he is aware of any type of violence that may occur. |
