Resumo: This work aims at relating the motivated use of taboo language in the animation Big Mouth, in English, to translation techniques used in its translation into Brazilian Portuguese, made by the translator Paloma Nascimento on the streaming platform, Netflix, to understand if there was attenuation or not in the translation of the taboo words. Once this audiovisual product is designed for adults, we sought to analyze whether the taboo items were equally marked in their translation, and their implications for the target audience. This study is feature as descriptive and textual analysis, with a comparative character.

Por se tratar de um produto audiovisual televisivo dirigido a adultos, buscou-se analisar se os itens tabuizados foram igualmente marcados na sua tradução, e suas implicações para o público alvo.
