Resumo: The present work of conclusion proposes to analyze the work of Tiradentes Panel by Candido Portinari, considering issues that involve, above all, the dilemmas around the historical notions of art autonomy and the social role of art. There is an effort to use the Hegelian-Marxist method for the investigation, considering some precedents that involve the category of autonomy of art as a consolidated notion in bourgeois societies, the relationship of social realism and its association with figurativism, the disputes in the within organizations of the Brazilian radical left that involved the artistic issue linked to a social project, in addition to the content/form relationship contained in the work.
