The aim of this research is analysing the international insertion of Florianópolis city in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. In order to reach this goal, firstly it is going to be developeda revision of the paradiplomacy and network cities concepts, intending to comprehend the emergence and importance of these ones, highlighting the new actors in the globalised scenario. Then, it is made an analysis about the paradiplomacy of Florianópolis, pointing out the institutional apparatus which are related to this sector, as well as its main international activities, mentioning their types, consequences and failings. Right after it, it seeks to understand how Florianopolis uses its insertion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for its own development and, for it, it’s going to be used information about the application process of the city and about the actions developed by Florianópolis which are related to the Network. Based on these reflexions, it is argued that the city is mainly using the Network with the intention of developing the gastronomic sector, as an image promotion tool, and as an integration instrument of local stakeholders, promoting gastronomic actions in the local and international sphere.
