Resumo: Among Hollywood super productions we can emphasize the hero movies, particularly Marvel’s movies, which have exceptional audience and raising numbers. A franchise this size produces positive political impacts for United States that deserve to be studied. This article seeks to comprehend these impacts and how they influence the relations between States. The argument is that Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved a size that, even without state intervention, it has become a soft power source to USA. Given that, this article analyzes cinema’s relevance in the relations between countries together with Joseph Nye’s soft power theory, providing the knowledge needed for us to comprehend how the franchise helps its country. After that, we can conclude that Marvel is an American source of soft power.

Uma franquia desse porte gera alguns impactos políticos positivos para os Estados Unidos que merecem ser estudados. Este trabalho busca compreender estes impactos e como eles influenciam as relações entre os Estados. O argumento é de que o Universo Cinematográfico da Marvel atingiu um tamanho tão elevado que, mesmo sem intervenção estatal, se tornou uma fonte de poder dos EUA. Assim, é feita uma análise da relevância do cinema nas relações entre os países em conjunto com a teoria de soft power desenvolvida por Joseph Nye, fornecendo o embasamento necessário para compreendermos a forma de que a franquia auxilia seu país de origem.
