Feedback extrínseco e aprendizagem motora: Efeitos de diferentes frequências de conhecimento de resultado

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different frequencies of knowledge of results (KR) in the acquisition of a motor skill. The sample consisted of 40 adult volunteers (25 men and 15 women), with a mean age of 24.6 ± 4.14 years, divided into two groups with different frequencies of KR supply (G100% and G33%). The motor task analyzed was the serial reaction time, in which the participants were instructed to perform a sequence of 10 clicks on the computer mouse as quickly as possible, in response to the appearance of circles on the screen. The experiment had four phases: baseline, acquisition phase, retention test and transfer test. On the 1st day of practice, the participants initially performed the baseline phase, with 20 attempts with the random presentation of the targets defined by the software in each attempt. Soon after, the acquisition phase was performed, consisting of a total of 105 attempts with the same order of appearance of the targets in each attempt. After an interval of 24 hours, the participants were submitted to a retention test, consisting of 20 attempts similar to the acquisition phase, but without providing KR. Then, a transfer test was performed, also with 20 attempts and without providing KR, but with a new random pattern of circles appearing on the screen. The results did not reveal significant differences between the two groups in any phase of the study. It is concluded that providing different KR frequencies does not affect the learning of a serial reaction time task.
