This dissertation is centered in two changes that took place in the 20th century: (a) the rising of the third sector as an emancipation space for the subject; and (b) the preponderancy of women occupying key positions in these organizations, as a reconfiguration of relationships of gender and power. A closer look at the theoretical fields that deals with such changes made possible the deepening of analytical perspectives that question the limits imposed by predominant discourses of social reality, to consider here, as two majors narratives that promises of emancipation didn´t took place. The work is based on the post-modernism presets to analyze gender inequality that exists in organizations of the third sector. The research was conducted at a non-governmental organization of Uberlandia, AMEAS, between the period of February of 2007 to January of 2008, with the general objective of identify the relationships contained in the social dynamics of gender and power, historic and collectively built, at a third sector organization. The adopted perspective follows the post-modern critic, centering its focus over the manifestations of power, exploring revelations about gender relations that emerges in narratives told by the actors of the organization in case. The methodological procedures went in direction of the re-construction of the history of AMEAS, beginning by narratives of the interviewed staff, both as individuals and groups, and the analyzed documents listed, to in sequence, answer some proposed questions, using the deconstructing methodology. The study presents an interpretation of the relationships between dualities in the narratives, and as well, puts in evidence the manifestation of three genres that emerge in the discursive practices of the organization.
