The main objective of this study is to discuss the issue of access to social media as a fundamental human right within an academic context. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive narrative literature review was conducted, analyzing and synthesizing existing scholarly works. This review provides a solid foundation for understanding the topic and contributes to the development of a critical and well-informed perspective on the significance of access to social media as a human right. The study also explores the results and discussions derived from the literature review, highlighting the crucial role of social media in promoting democratic values, freedom of expression, and citizen participation. Additionally, the study addresses the challenges that still need to be overcome in order to ensure universal access to these platforms. These challenges include issues related to technological infrastructure, socioeconomic disparities, and government policies that may hinder equitable access. Furthermore, the research concludes by presenting a synthesis of the key arguments raised throughout the study. This synthesis underscores the importance of further research and continued discourse surrounding the topic of access to social media as a fundamental human right. It emphasizes the necessity of such discussions to guarantee equal opportunities for all individuals in utilizing digital technologies and exercising their human rights in an increasingly interconnected world.
