Resumo: The Intrauterine Device is a reversible contraceptive method that can be inserted at different times, by reproductive planning. Introduction and objective: Considering the public policies of reproductive health care in force in the country, this study aims to identify and analyze the main complications, effectiveness and outcome in the insertion of IUDs immediately after childbirth and after abortion compared to the classic insertion of the IUD. Methodology: A study with a quantitative approach will be carried out, through the analysis of medical records and application of a questionnaire, to analyze and compare the outcome of the insertion of postpartum, post-abortion and classic insertion of IUDs, regarding possible complications and continuity or interruption of the method, among patients assisted at the Gynecology and Obstetrics outpatient clinic of the Hospital de Clínicas – UFU. Results achieved: The insertion of the classic IUD does not present less chances of complications compared to the immediate postpartum and post-abortion IUDs.

Introdução e objetivo: Considerando as políticas públicas de atenção à saúde reprodutiva vigentes no país, este estudo visa identificar e analisar as principais complicações, eficácia e desfecho na inserção de DIU pós-parto imediato e pós aborto comparado à inserção clássica do DIU. Metodologia: Será realizado um estudo de abordagem quantitativa, por meio da análise de prontuários e aplicação de questionário, para analisar e comparar o desfecho da inserção de DIU pósparto, pós-aborto e de inserção clássica, quanto a possíveis complicações e continuidade ou interrupção do método, entre pacientes atendidas no ambulatório de Ginecologia e Obstetrícia do Hospital de Clínicas – UFU.
