Resumo: | In telecommunications networks, routing protocols have the objective of finding the most favorable route for the transmission of packets from the origin to the destination. Each routing protocol analyzes a set of parameters that help determine the most suitable routes for transmission, and this is fundamental for choosing the best protocol that will be used in an enterprise's network. Thus, the two most known routing protocols, RIP (Routing Information Protocol) and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), were analyzed. For this, a network is simulated with the two protocols, using the network simulator software Cisco Packet Tracer to draw conclusions about its capabilities and feasibility. The values of end-to-end delay, convergence time and throughput are obtained for comparison in tables with the simulation performed with the two protocols. Based on the results obtained, it’s observed that in more complex networks the OSPF protocol has a lower delay, a shorter convergence time and a better throughput than RIP. Therefore, it could be concluded, through simulation, that the RIP protocol is more limited in more complex networks than OSPF. However, the RIP protocol is simpler and works just as well as OSPF on smaller networks. |
