Resumo: It studies the discourse of black women who have been through incarceration and their ways of saying/perceiving prejudice and racial discrimination. Based on the theorical-conceptual approach of institutional analysis of discourse, as proposed by Guirado, a qualitative analysis method in psychology area that manages a minimum of concepts: subject, institution, discourse, and analysis. It interviewed three participants, out of a total of five expected interviews, given the peculiar circumstances for effective contact with them. Once recorded, with authorization, and transcribed, the interviews were primarily analyzed one by one, and later together, through the grouping of recurring elements and the highlighting of elements that, although still singular, demanded a closer analytical view. The analysis of the participant’s discourse allowed us to find that their experiences with family abandonment, living in the streets, getting involved with drug dealing – as users, and/or intermediaries – as well as prostitution, had a strong hold in their choices and are explicit as a not always successful way of signifying those choices. It is highlighted that, based on the elected methodological approach, it supposes that the subject discourse will always be inserted in the same institutional order that constitutes them as subject and, that way, are a relevant part of the discourse in circulation in each context, social and historical moment. The obtained results show that the participants’ feeling on racial prejudice and racism that they eventually suffer/suffered, does not seem to be an isolated phenomenon, separable from the impact of other experiences with prejudice, such as class and genre-based ones.
