Sexualidade, gênero e diferença: uma lacuna na formação em Psicologia

Discussions related to issues of sexuality, gender and difference come up against taboos, prejudices and social exclusions, which still have deep roots. Understanding its meanings, history, exclusionary practices and violence depends on study, visibility, persistence and struggle, amid advances and setbacks. In training in Psychology, understanding its limits, possibilities, production of knowledge, social duties and its impacts on society can promote advances in this area, in addition to seeking the ethical and political commitment essential to this debate. The objective of this work is to identify and critically discuss the existence of disciplines with themes related to sexuality, gender and difference offered in undergraduate courses in Psychology at Public Universities in the State of Minas Gerais. For this, we carried out a survey of the pedagogical projects of Psychology courses offered by Public Universities in the State of Minas Gerais, seeking disciplines that address sexuality, gender and difference. Among the seven institutions surveyed, six have disciplines related to these themes; four offered the discipline in the last three semesters and two did not; It should be noted that none of them are mandatory. From discussions with the National Curriculum Guidelines and Course Pedagogical Projects, we observed gaps related to such themes, which denounce the erasure and silencing of ways of being in the world. We emphasize the need for a critical training in Psychology, which encompasses issues concerning sexuality, gender and difference, since silence and erasure produce exclusion, perpetuation of violent practices and dissemination of prejudices and stigmas.
