This paper has the objective of construct a discussion about socioeconomic indicators of a quantitative nature in the environment, social development and education dimensions, produced by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The research focus in a spatial interpretation of the data, generating maps of how the indicators behave in the urban space. In addition, together with the map construction, it was accomplished a discussion about the importance and the difficulties of using these indicators, giving emphasis on the time of production, the trustworthy of the data and the availability and manners of how the researchers, governors and society receive the indicators from institutes. The spatial area comprising the cities of Araguari/MG and Uberlândia/MG, located in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba mesoregion and bordering municipalities. For the analysis, it is followed the discussion and the concepts of the Health Cities Movement, which seeks for Quality of Life and health promotion. The research is important in so far as enables the use of instruments that help urban planning, public policies development and building a more equal city for everyone.
