The aim of the study is to investigate students' prior knowledge about the shape of the Earth and its gravitational field according to the notions of scholars Nussbaum and Novak, after using children's literature. Firstly, the work is about this "universe" so known to children that is the imaginary, the fiction, bringing all this magic of the playful through children's literature starting from the book "The Little Prince", and after this literary delight, we research how the planet Earth is idealized by the children of the 4th year of elementary school I of a public school in the interior of São Paulo, in an atypical period of pandemic, involving remote, hybrid and on-site classes. The children's book was read, the students participated in a conversation circle, after which activities were carried out on planet Earth and its gravitational field so that we could assess their knowledge on the subject. This study aimed to demonstrate that literature instigates their curiosity about the reality and reveals learning aimed at science through play, thus, literature enriches and strengthens the didactic content to be learned.
