Human rights are a historically and socially constructed concept, the result of a constant process of struggles and social, historical, and political movements that defend human dignity in all contexts. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, promulgated by the UN in 1948, considered the vital milestone in the discussion and dissemination of the current vision of Human Rights, by bringing together the various dimensions of rights and indicating teaching and education as an effective way to achieve their universalization, already pointed to the need to think about an Education in Human Rights. This work aims to trace a timeline with the international and national regulatory frameworks that underlie the right to education and to Education in Human Rights, and to develop a brief study about the proposals of Education in Human Rights in Brazil. We limit ourselves to highlighting, in this context, two documents of greater relevance and interest: the National Plan for Education in Human Rights (PNEDH), of 2006 and the National Guidelines for Education in Human Rights, of 2012, as we consider that they are fundamental for understanding the importance of human rights education in consolidating a democratic rule of law. The culture of human rights must be built and developed collectively and gradually, and this experience will trigger attitudes and behaviors consistent with these principles, however, Human Rights Education, despite clear advances, can be accepted as a practice recent development, and it is a process that still needs to be consolidated.
