This senior thesis aims at investigating how the Undergraduate Program in Translation of the Federal University of Uberlandia consolidated throughout its seven years. It sets out to bridge a gap in the lack of academic research on Translation programs. The general objective is to investigate how the implementation and consolidation of the course took place, based on previously selected aspects, such as curriculum, infrastructure, faculty, and actions developed to train translators. Its specific objectives are: 1) to describe the selected aspects in different historical moments, 2) to compare some of the program’s aspects in relation to those of a similar program in Brazil, and 3) to analyze how the consolidation process of the undergraduate program took place during the target period of time. The data pointed to a lack of undergraduate programs in Translation in Brazil, especially those that are not attached to programs in Languages and Literature, to the evasion in the Undergraduate Program in Translation of the Federal University of Uberlandia, and to a need for further studies on the few programs in Brazil.
