Resumo: The purpose of this paper is to address the different aspects (dualism classic and reductive monism) that deal with the mind-body relationship from a focus centered on the emergentist theory. The purpose of this Final Paper is to verify the consistency of the explanation for mind-body-environment relations in the emergentist conception. To do this enterprise, we will take a course that will first pass through the dualistic conception of the mind-body relationship. Subsequently, we will follow a conception that falls within a scope called as reductive monism. And finally, we will analyze the problem according to the emergentist theory, so that we could, through a critical analysis, discuss whether emergentism is a consistent theory when considering the mind-body-environment relationship. At the end of the work, we will try to understand if it is true that, in order to understand an organism as a whole is, it is necessary to decode the set of relations that it maintains with the world, both at the micro level and at the macro level.
