The Vargas government (1930-45) was marked by the motto of the search for the renewal of the republic, which aimed at its national unification and the construction of a national identity and project that, together, would lead to Brazilian modernization. In this sense, the broader objectives for Brazil were presented as purposes of education, making it operate as an instrument of power to form the society idealized by the intellectual sectors and, later, in an even more profound way, by the government, this being, civic, patriotic and modern. In view of this, the present work has the purpose of analyzing the relationship of the nationalist education project that is established between the Manifest of the Pioneers of New Education (1932): The educational reconstruction in Brazil - to the people and the government and the school booklets Youth in the New State and Getúlio Vargas, the friend of children, produced and distributed by the Department of Press and Propaganda (DIP), to schools, between 1940 and 1945. This research seeks to reflect, therefore, on how these nationalist projects are articulated or not? Why do you choose education as the focus of your projects? If they are thinking about the regeneration/renewal of Brazil, what society and nation are they intending to form?
