Due to the great territorial extension covered by hydrographic basins and dams, Brazil presents great potential for the growth of the fish farming sector. With the constant increase in tilapia production in the country in the last years, breeding companies and fry production companies aim to improve their performance characteristics in order to meet the demand of fish farmers, improving the profitability of the activity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the zootechnical performance and economic viability of two lots of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) provided by different breeding companies. In this study, group one was designated T1 provided by company A and group two of T2 provided by company B. The experiment was carried out at the Bioacqua farm, at the Capim Branco 1 dam, located in the municipality of Araguari-MG. Juveniles of Nile tilapia were used. The two groups of fish were housed in 48m3 (4X4X3) cages, resulting in a density of approximately 50 fish / m3. A commercial feed of 32% crude protein was used. The growth curve, weight gain, feed conversion, survival rate, cost of production, gross revenue, net revenue and gross margin were evaluated. The growth curve of the two groups was very similar until the D78, after this day of cultivation there was a low growth of the two groups in relation to the standard curve. The T1 group had the highest cost of production / kg of fish produced, resulting in a lower net revenue and lower gross margin. The results obtained showed a greater economic viability in the cultivation of the fish of group T2, coming from company B.
