Resumo: This work presents the validation of the characteristic power curve and the characteristic torque curve for the Fiat Fire 1.0 engine, using a zero dimensional simulator. To validate the results, the characteristic power and the characteristic torque curves generated by the simulator are compared with the actual characteristic power and characteristic torque curves of this engine and relative errors between curve points are calculated to quantify how close the simulation was to reality. Firstly, a bibliographic review of spark ignition internal combustion engines (ICE) was done, starting with it’s historical evolution and it’s importance for society, and later focusing on it’s types, mode of operation and important parameters for the study and development of this type of engine. Posteriorly, it describes how the simulator works and the input data requested. Then, the simulation was performed and the results obtained in the simulation of the characteristic power and characteristic torque curves were compared with the real curves. Relative errors between the curves were calculated and then, a detailed analysis of important parameters for the construction of these curves was made, in order to understand the obtained errors. Understanding the errors from computer simulations is the key to predicting engine performance.

Para a validação dos resultados, as curvas características de potência e torque geradas pelo simulador são comparadas com as curvas características de potência e torque reais deste motor e são calculados erros relativos entre pontos das curvas, de modo a quantificar o quão próximo a simulação esta da realidade. Primeiramente é apresentada uma revisão bibliográfica sobre motores de combustão interna com ignição por centelha (ICE), iniciando em sua evolução histórica e sua importância para a sociedade. Posteriormente, focando no seus tipos, modo de funcionamento e parâmetros importantes para o estudo e desenvolvimento de motores. Em seguida, é discutido sobre o funcionamento do simulador e os dados de entrada necessários para a simulação. Na sequência, é realizada a simulação e comparado os resultados obtidos na simulação das curvas características de potência e torque com as curvas reais. Erros relativos entre as curvas foram calculados e então, é feita uma análise detalhada de parâmetros importantes para a construção dessas curvas, de modo a procurar compreender os erros obtidos.
