Resumo: | Currently, the poultry industry is one of the most important sources of animal protein for the global population. In Brazil, the production of chicken has undergone a major development in recent decades, due to investments made to increase the productivity and welfare of the birds, especially in the areas of breeding, nutrition, management and health, as well as assessment of the environment where birds are housed, seeking to maximum bird productive performance. The objective of this study was to analyze technologies of commercial broiler houses through visits to farms located in four rural areas of the Brazilian Federal District. Thus, information regarding the architectural characterization of animal facilities, the type of manufacturing, productivity of poultry and other observations considered important in relation to poultry activity in this region were evaluated. The results indicated that over 50% of facilities housed more than 22,000 birds, and most of the farms utilized closed structures with negative ventilation system. In 15.38% of the farms evaluated family labor was used. It was concluded that the studied poultry houses in rural areas of the Federal District are installations with large numbers of birds, given the large size of the buildings, where most present a good technological level due to the adoption of a set of important measures recommended for these installation. |
