A presen?a de grandes diamantes nas drenagens da regi?o motivou os primeiros trabalhos de prospec??o de fontes prim?rias do diamante na regi?o, como em Coromandel, Carmo do Parana?ba, e Abaet?. Embora os estudos na regi?o venham de longa data, nota-se uma car?ncia de informa??es sobre a fonte prim?ria do diamante de Romaria, principalmente devido ao intenso intemperismo e aus?ncia de rochas frescas pr?ximas ao dep?sito diamant?fero. O objetivo deste trabalho consiste na caracteriza??o geol?gica do dep?sito diamant?fero de Romaria com base na qu?mica mineral de minerais sat?lites do diamante e levantamentos de campo que buscam caracterizar os ambientes sedimentares e associa??es faciol?gicas dos n?veis diamant?feros. As rochas kimberl?ticas e lampro?ticas na ?rea pertencem a Prov?ncia ?gnea do Alto Parana?ba (PIAP) e s?o correlacionadas ao soerguimento do Arco do Alto Parana?ba, com magmatismo atribu?do ? intera??o das plumas mant?licas Trist?o da Cunha e Trindade durante a abertura do Atl?ntico Sul, com magmas de afinidade alcalina. Gr?os de granada, ilmenita e turmalina foram separados da brecha diamant?fera de Romaria denomidada ?Tau?? e foram analisados em microssonda eletr?nica. As composi??es de granada s?o compat?veis com os tipos G10, G9 e G5. Os gr?os de ilmenita apresentam alto teor de Mg e Mn, ao passo que os gr?os de turmalina s?o do tipo dravita, rara associa??o com diamante em rochas de afinidade lampro?tica. A sucess?o vulcanocl?stica da Mina da ?gua Suja tem sido correlacionada ? Forma??o Mar?lia ou ? Forma??o Uberaba, com ambiente clim?tico das bacias deposicionais reportado como ?rido a semi-?rido, enquanto as rochas de Romaria indicam ambiente clim?tico ?mido devido ? presen?a de clastos de caulim e a intercala??o de pelitos e n?veis conglomer?ticos. A escassez de rocha fresca nas proximidades do dep?sito diamant?fero de Romaria dificulta a interpreta??o e caracteriza??o faciologica, habitualmente usada para rochas kimberl?ticas e lampro?ticas. As diferen?as nas colunas litoestratigr?ficas e, possivelmente, na idade de deposi??o e caracter?sticas clim?ticas dos respectivos meios sedimentares, inviabiliza correla??o entre a sucess?o de Romaria com as Forma??es Mar?lia e Uberaba. Programa de P?s-gradua??o em Geologia, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2020.The ?gua Suja diamond mine is the oldest in the Tri?ngulo Mineiro, and has been explored since 1888 in alluvial deposits. The presence of large diamonds in the region's drainages motivated the first prospecting works for primary diamond sources in the region, such as in Coromandel, Carmo do Parana?ba, and Abaet?. Although studies in the region have been going on for a long time, there is a lack of information on the primary source of the Romaria diamond, mainly due to the intense weathering and absence of fresh rocks near the diamond deposit. The objective of this work is the geological characterization of the diamond deposit of Romaria based on the mineral chemistry of the satellite minerals of the diamond and field surveys that seek to characterize the sedimentary environments and faciological associations of the diamond levels. The kimberlitic and lamproitic rocks in the area belong to the Igneous Province of Alto Parana?ba (PIAP) and are correlated to the uplift of the Arco do Alto Parana?ba, with magmatism attributed to the mantle plumes Trist?o da Cunha and Trindade during the opening of the South Atlantic, with magmas of affinity alkaline. Grains of garnet, ilmenite and tourmaline were separated from the diamond hole in Romaria called ?Tau?? and were analyzed using an electronic probe. The garnet compositions are compatible with types G10, G9 and G5. Ilmenite grains have a high content of Mg and Mn, whereas tourmaline grains are of the dravite type, rare association with diamond in rocks of lamproitic affinity. The volcanoclastic succession of the ?gua Suja Mine has been correlated to the Mar?lia Formation or to the Uberaba Formation, with the climatic environment of these basins reported as arid to semi-arid, while the Romaria rocks indicate a humid climatic environment due to the presence of kaolin clasts and the interleaving of pelite and conglomeratic levels. While the scarcity of fresh rock in the vicinity of the Romaria diamond deposit makes it difficult to interpret and characterize the usual physiological characteristics of kimberlitic and lamproitic rocks. The differences in the lithostratigraphic columns and, possibly, in the age of deposition and climatic characteristics of the respective sedimentary media, make it impossible to correlate the succession of Romaria with the Mar?lia and Uberaba Formations.
