Efeitos da distribuição sobre o nível de renda da economia: uma análise da composição setorial produtiva do Brasil

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of various alternatives pattern of income distribution on the rate of economic growth. We sought to investigate whether better income distribution results in elevation of GDP, based on the hypothesis that income redistribution increases those more traditional sectors, supposed to have a capital/output ratio lower. Thus, given the same savings rate between an unequal society and another more egalitarian, where the income distribution is more equanimous a larger volume of resources would be free to investments, increasing production, creating new jobs and, thus, higher income could be achieved. The methodology was based on input-output matrix. The results suggest that greater equity income reduces personal savings, which consequently increases the consumption of private goods and services. Consequently, the activities related to food, agriculture, textile and transport expand. This result is consistent with the structuralist theory of ECLAC, due these activities had low capital/output ratio when compared to the national average, thereby increasing the productivity of investment. The result is the growth of income and GDP.
