Increased competitiveness has raised the need to more effectively control their logistics performance and efficiency. This new environment requires the use of techniques and parameters that are able to drive consistent business. The work helps the dairy industry to improve its performance and efficiency, creating indicators and benchmarks that will serve them as a reference.The study aimed to measure the efficiency of dairy products in the Zona da Mata and Campo das Vertentes, set benchmarks, analyze the averages of the groups' performance, analyze how these variables can interfere with the efficiency of dairy and generate information that will contribute for actions to improve the performance of the dairy industry.To measure efficiency, we used the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), using the classic BCC model with product orientation. Through the results it was possible to group the sample into two groups. The first, called efficient, was composed by producers who have reached efficiency score higher than 0.9. The averages of the groups were compared, according to some variables previously selected, which showed lower values for the group of efficient firms, contradicting the expected result. The average efficiency observed (0.594) showed that dairy industries have considerable degree of inefficiency, which suggests that it is possible to increase production on average by 40.6% with the same proportion of inputs currently used. This results is due to the efficiency analysis has been conducted regarding the number of rows of collection and distribution, logistics performance in the uptake (volume of milk received per mile traveled) and the inverse of time taken to carry out the delivery after the request made.
