Resumo: No contexto internacional do pós-guerra, com a divisão da hegemonia econômica entre Estados Unidos e União Soviética, a ajuda externa à América Latina torna-se objeto de interesse dos americanos. Assim, convênios com instituições educacionais ligadas à agricultura foram firmados para abrir maiores possibilidades de negócios entre os dois países. Dessa forma, uma rede científica que envolveu diversos atores foi firmada para possibilitar a construção da ciência na Universidade Rural de Minas Gerais (UREMG) – posteriormente, Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Portanto, o objetivo é compreender a natureza da relação institucional da Universidade de Purdue e a UREMG/UFV para, assim, problematizar as consequências das associações entre esses dois atores na produção tecno-científica no contexto da modernização da agricultura.
