Resumo: | The present study has the objective to analyze, from a critical approach, the relations of power existing in the banking sector, verifying if the speech of present flexibility in the politics of management of people of the organizations of this sector is used as domination mechanism. In this direction, the work assumes that the speech of flexibility can be an instrument of additional power to the structure of power established in bureaucratic norms in the organizations. The choice of the banking sector was gave due to the great occured transformations for the productive reorganization of the sector after the 70´s that eased its processes by means of the adoption of new forms of management of the work and new technologies, also modifying the profile of the demanded one of the bank employer inside of an economic and social context. The subjects that compose the theoretical referencial, based in authors as Pagès, Gaulejac, Soboll, Faria, Siqueira, among others, deal with the crisis and reorganization of the capitalist systems of management, of the crisis of the modernity and the emergency of the speech of flexibility, in of the relations of power in the people management practices and one brief presentation of the banking sector, that is the object of this study. The analysis and the interpretation of the data were made by means of the comparison and contrast of the answers of the interviewed ones with the theoretical referencial, that point to the conclusion that the bank employer does not associate the management practices to the domination of the work, although to perceive the consequences on its professional, social and familiar life.O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar, a partir um enfoque crítico, as relações de poder existentes no setor bancário, verificando se o discurso da flexibilidade presente nas políticas de gestão de pessoas das organizações deste setor é utilizado como mecanismo de dominação. Neste sentido, o trabalho parte do pressuposto de que o discurso da flexibilidade pode ser um instrumento de poder complementar à estrutura de poder baseada em normas burocráticas nas organizações. A escolha do setor bancário se deu devido às grandes transformações ocorridas pela reestruturação produtiva do setor após a década de 1970, que flexibilizou seus processos por meio da adoção de novas formas de gestão do trabalho e novas tecnologias, alterando também o perfil do exigido do trabalhador bancário dentro de um contexto econômico e social. Os temas que compõem o referencial teórico, baseados em autores como Pagès, Gaulejac, Soboll, Faria, Siqueira, entre outros, tratam da crise e reestruturação dos sistemas de gestão capitalistas, da crise da modernidade e da emergência do discurso da flexibilidade, das relações de poder nas práticas de gestão de pessoas e de uma breve apresentação do setor bancário, que é o objeto deste estudo. O estudo de caso foi realizado a partir de entrevistas semi estruturadas com bancários de algumas agências localizadas no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O foco da investigação foram os funcionários do primeiro e último níveis hierárquicos das agências.
